One of the first things to do when you begin self-improvement is to check your attitude.

As you go through your day take some time and listen to your thoughts. What do you think about when you go shopping?
Would you label your thoughts as positive or negative? While shopping are you always worried about the price of products and your lack of sufficiant monies to shop the way you want?

As you go about your day thinking your thoughts. Do you think the people around you and the people you meet know your thoughts?
Although people will not know exactly what you are thinking, they will more or less know how you are feeling.

Our thoughts effect us and every one around us. When we go where we are known the people who know us can tell what kind of mood we are in. We are definitely not alone with our thoughts.

Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. your attitude effects your appearance. Your thoughts are so powerful that they effect the people who you chose as friends and the people you chose to associate with.

A person with positive thoughts have invigorating effects on people they come in contact with. People who are with some one who has a positive attitude are usually energized by there thoughts.

At the same time if you are around people with a negative attitude you with feel your energy being sapped. Negative thoughts make you look gloomy and sad and can turn a happy occasion into a funeral wake.

Studies show that a positive attitude promotes better health. With a positive attitude you are able to handle stress and problems better than those with a negative attitude.

A good self-image comes from a positive attitude. Self- improvement comes from a good self-esteem. With a good attitude and a good self-image you can be unstoppable.

With a positive attitude you can effect many lives if a friend feels down, very often all they need is some one to listen to them. With a positive attitude you can usually cheer them up with out having to say a word.

A negative attitude has the opposite effect. A negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad about yourself and you make others feel the same way.

In the world we currently live it can be difficult to keep a positive attitude with so many news feeds which usually give us nothing but negative messages. A study shows that for every 14 things a parent says to his or her child, only one is positive. Sad, isn?t it.

You cannot stay away from negative things but you can carry a positive attitude by focusing on the good things in your life.

If positive attitude is great, why do people choose to adopt a negative attitude instead? One who carries a negative attitude may be actually sending a signal for attention. Feeling sad, angry, or gloomy is not wrong. It becomes unhealthy if you dwell on these thoughts for far too long.

Adopting a healthy and positive attitude promotes win-win situation.

For anyone that has ever owned a house, home improvement projects are a weekend staple. Many of us are unfamiliar with the construction trade, but that doesn?t mean we cant take on even some of the most difficult home improvement projects. This article is meant to give you tips for your next home improvement project.

If your home is an older house there?s a good chance you might have outdated PVC windows, which are difficult to maintain and often yellow with age. Replacing the PVC with modern plate glass can make a significant difference in the look of the house. Glass windows will also allow more natural sunlight into your home, creating a more open, inviting atmosphere.

Synthetic building materials have a place in home improvement projects, and that place is usually outside. Synthetics tend to stand up to sun and weather better than the natural materials they replace. (Stone is a notable exception to this rule.) For wood in particular, there are a number of synthetic replacements that offer similar attractiveness and superior durability.

When doing a web search looking for a contractor to hire, do specific niche searches. Many contractors work in niche aspects of home improvement and can do an excellent job for you. These contractors have the experience and expertise that is required for many of the niche home improvement jobs.

To get home improvement ideas you may not have otherwise, visit a hardware store and just window shop for an hour. Even in home hardware, there are constantly new products and technologies, and new applications come with them. Just stroll the aisles with your hands in your pocket for an hour and soak it all in. Go home and mull it over, mentally placing items in your home, and then go back for the perfect project.

If you are looking to add some value to your home, you can create a new looking kitchen by resurfacing your cabinets. By simply sanding down the old cabinets in your home and staining them with a fresh new finish, you can increase the value of your home fairly dramatically.

Focus on interior lighting for your next home improvement project. If you change out your old light bulbs with Compact Fluorescent Lights, you will save energy and money. These bulbs also last longer than traditional lighting choices. This is a very simple project that will have remarkable results on the amount of money you save in energy bills.

Look for the line of nails! If you need to snug up a protruding piece of paneling or drywall you can normally tell where to add a new nail or screw just by closely observing the surface of the panel. It was installed by nailing it to the underlying wall studs and evidence of those studs will likely still be visible.

Instead of wooden flooring or linoleum, use tiles in your kitchen area. Most tiles are easy to clean and more spill proof than any linoleum or wood flooring on the market. They define your kitchen space and keep that area separate from the rest of your dining room or living room.

When doing home improvements be sure that every company you use is properly licensed and insured. There are many people who are not properly insured and if they cause harm to someone through faulty work it could become your liability. Licensing is important because there are fraudulent companies out there that may take your money and run. Be safe and do the research.

Updating the outside of your house by repainting the exterior or updating the siding is a very cost value added home improvement. It is one of the most effective ways to increase the sale price of your home. By giving your home an exterior facelift you can instantly add more buying appeal to your home.

Make sure that you install a window or proper ventilation in your bathroom. Humidity from showering with hot water creates the perfect place for mold to cultivate. Even if you keep repainting your bathroom walls, it still won?t sufficiently kill off the mold. Instead, do something that will prevent it from growing at all. Install a window or ventilation, to dehumidify your space.

When it comes to home improvement, small additions such as power strips and surge protectors can be extremely beneficial. Power strips allow for you to easily turn off groups of electronics, saving money on energy. Most surge protectors will protect your electronics from lightning strikes and power surges.

To change the look of your living room or den without spending a lot of money, consider updating your fireplace. Replacing the screen and painting the brick and/or mantel can add a fresh new look to the whole room, and eyes will immediately be drawn to the modern-looking focal point.

Beware custom made items. Custom is great for cabinets, but it can get costly when it comes to most items. Save money by figuring out how to modify store-bought items, or how to modify your home itself to fit around the item you purchase. This will typically end up saving you money.

If you are new at home improvement projects, or are working on your skillset, you are going to make some mistakes. Do not let setbacks get to you. If you let errors get you down, or halt your working, you are letting the process of home improvement beat you. You can master many tasks, but it will not happen overnight. Learn from your mistakes (or better still, learn from the mistakes of others!)

Have a backup plan for getting water or using the toilet if your home improvement project involves plumbing. It is impossible to predict how long it will take to install a new sink or complete a number of other plumbing projects. Even if you anticipate that you will be finished by the end of the day, have a backup plan in place just in case. You don?t want to leave your family without these necessities.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) ? President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden unleashed a back-to-back assault Tuesday on Republican challenger Mitt Romney, re-emphasizing Democratic assertions that Romney as a venture capitalist sent U.S. jobs overseas and paid no heed to the impact on American workers.

"You've got to give Mitt Romney credit," Biden said while campaigning in Iowa. "He's a job creator in Singapore, China, India."

Obama, who was holding fundraisers in Atlanta and Miami, cast his Republican rival as the type of wealthy investor whose only goal was making money no matter the cost.

"Governor Romney and his allies believe that we should go back to the top-down economics of the last decade. They believe that if we eliminate regulations and we cut taxes by trillions of dollars, we just leave the market alone, that everybody will prosper," Obama said in Miami Beach. "They argue that if you help corporations and wealthy investors maximize their profits by whatever means necessary, whether it be layoffs or outsourcing, union busting or whatever means are available, that will automatically translate into jobs and prosperity to benefit everybody."

Behind the criticism of Romney's business record is the Obama campaign's belief that the effort to undermine a potential Romney strength ? his experience as the successful head of the private equity firm Bain Capital ? is yielding results and raising questions with voters.

Biden made note of news reports that Bain took over firms that sent jobs to China and India and opposed union efforts to increase wages and improve benefits. The Romney campaign has argued that the reports aren't accurate and don't take into account how work done overseas supports U.S. exports.

"The president and I don't see American workers as part of the problem. We see them as the heart of the solution," he said.

Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul called Biden's comments misleading and said they were an effort to distract voters from Obama's "disastrous economic record."

"President Obama has failed to meet his own standard for lowering unemployment because he has no idea what it takes to get our economy moving again," Saul said in a statement. "On Day One, Mitt Romney will take action to jumpstart our economy and give job creators the incentives they need to thrive here in America."

The back and forth on Romney's business record has become a familiar campaign theme. A political committee supporting Obama began airing an ad over the weekend accusing Romney of making millions while shutting down an Indiana paper plant.

Biden was beginning a two-day visit to Iowa, a swing state whose six electoral votes could be significant in the November election. He spoke to more than 400 people, many of them union members from a John Deere factory, transit workers and members of a public employees union.

For Obama, it was the second day of targeting Romney. He emphasized that their contest is a choice between ideologies, not a referendum on his own performance.

"The question is not whether we need to put more folks back to work or whether we need to see the economy growing faster or whether we need to bring down our debt," he told the crowd of donors in Atlanta. "The question is how do we do it."

The president held two fundraisers in Atlanta, followed by two events in Miami Beach, including a performance by singer Marc Anthony, raising at least $2.3 million.

Obama was holding the fundraisers at the start of a pivotal week for his campaign. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on his health care overhaul law on Thursday, passing judgment on the most significant piece of legislation during his presidency.

And it comes as Obama and his team have warned that Romney and his Republican allies would outspend him during the presidential campaign.

In an e-mail to supporters Tuesday, Obama bluntly stated: "I will be the first president in modern history to be outspent in his re-election campaign, if things continue as they have so far."

The urgent tone was designed to spur more giving. Until last month, Obama had been by far the leading fundraiser in the presidential contest. But Romney, after securing the nomination, has consolidated his support.

Romney raised more than $76 million last month for his presidential campaign and for the GOP, compared to $60 million for Obama and the Democrats. Obama's advisers say they expect Republican-leaning super PACs to pull in $1.2 billion before the election, posing a big-money challenge for the president. Obama has more than $100 million in his campaign account, but Democratic super PACs have struggled to raise money.

Obama has now raised the stakes, saying that even without the help of GOP-leaning super PACs, Romney could still outspend him.

"You're going to have more money spent in this election than ever before by the other side on negative ads," Obama said in Atlanta. "And their message will be simple. They'll say, the economy is bad and it's Obama's fault."

GNIEWINO, Poland (Reuters) - Ten Real Madrid players will pull on the shirts of Spain, Portugal and Germany in this week's Euro 2012 semi-finals, the latest reminder of the clout wielded by the world's richest soccer club by income.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's most expensive player at about $125 million, will lead Portugal's Pepe and Fabio Coentrao out against their Real team mates representing Spain in Donetsk on Wednesday, before Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira line up for Germany against Italy in Warsaw on Thursday.

Real's economic might, and that of great domestic rivals Barcelona, the world's second richest club who have seven players in the Spanish squad, mainly derives from their stranglehold over revenue from La Liga television rights.

Their whopping TV deals, negotiated individually, allow them to buy and pay the best players and compete with European rivals like the Manchester clubs, United and City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, while their Spanish peers are left trailing far behind.

Analysts have long argued that Spain needs to adopt the system of collective bargaining and income sharing for TV rights used in other major European leagues or else more of Spain's professional clubs will follow Real Zaragoza, Real Betis, Racing Santander and others into administration.

Real and Barca have come under some pressure to agree a fairer distribution of TV cash but analysts say a recent collective deal struck by the English Premier League, which will boost revenue by 70 percent over three years, makes it unlikely they will give up their current dominance.

The economic crisis gripping Spain and Europe has only made the need for change more urgent, while the success of the Spanish national team stands in stark contrast to the parlous financial situation in the country's domestic league.

"A majority of clubs are bankrupt," Jaume Llopis, a senior lecturer at the IESE business school in Barcelona, told Reuters.

COMPETITIVE POSITION

Real and Barca gobbled up roughly half the 640 million euros ($799 million) Spanish clubs earned from TV rights in the 2010-11 season, according to a study published in April by University of Barcelona accounting professor Jose Maria Gay.

Barca's 163 million and Real's 156 million dwarf the 42 million earned by Valencia, who finished a distant third behind champions Real and second-placed Barca in La Liga last season.

In a deal announced this month, broadcaster BSkyB and former state telecoms company BT will share live domestic English Premier League rights from next year.

They agreed a three-year contract worth 3.018 billion pounds ($4.70 billion) that will narrow the revenue gap between clubs like Manchester United, City and Chelsea and Real and Barca.

"There is no doubt that this TV deal will improve the competitive position of English clubs," the Swiss Rambler, a widely-respected blogger on soccer finances, wrote last week.

The top two in England, United and City, earned about half as much from TV rights as Real and Barca last season but the gap may close altogether depending on the size of overseas rights deals and whether Spain's dominant pair can be persuaded to adopt an English-style bargaining system, he added.

However, Angel Barajas, associate professor of financial management at the University of Vigo, said such a change to the Spanish set up was even less likely after the new Premier League deal with English clubs using their increased resources to try to lure even more of the world's best players.

"Madrid and Barca will still be able to compete for this talent as their TV contracts guarantee them large amounts of revenue," Barajas told Reuters.

"But they will want to hold on to individually negotiated deals as this will allow them to stay at the same level as the richest clubs in the Premier League.

"Perhaps the imbalances in the Spanish league will become even greater."

GRIM READING

The accounts of Spanish clubs already make grim reading with the 20 teams in the top flight having combined debts of 3.53 billion euros in 2010-11, according to Gay.

Income was about 1.67 billion euros, with Real and Barca alone accounting for more than 900 million.

"We are at a very delicate moment and it will be hard to straighten out Spanish soccer in the midst of the financial and economic storm gripping Spain and Europe," Gay told Reuters.

"You have to add in football's own crisis that the clubs have been provoking in recent years with accounting imbalances and monumental levels of debt."

Clubs in Spain's top two divisions owe some 750 million euros to the tax authorities plus another 600 million to the social security system, a situation that has provoked outrage at a time when ordinary people are struggling with shrinking incomes and rising costs and the jobless lines are lengthening.

"It's immoral given Spain's economic situation that the government does not force the clubs to settle these debts," Llopis at IESE said.

"But no politician would dare as it would mean the end of Spanish football, the opiate of the people. Only Real and Barca, by selling real estate and players, would survive."

Despite the apparently bleak outlook, Barajas said he hoped new UEFA Financial Fair Play rules designed to stop clubs spending more than they earned, coupled with similar regulations being introduced in Spain, would eventually bear fruit.

"Hopefully clubs will rein in spending and rely more on developing talent in their youth academies," he said.

"But it's high time we dispensed with the good intentions and the empty gestures and finally took some concrete action." ($1 = 0.6427 British pounds) ($1 = 0.8013 euros)

"Criminal Minds," CBS Status: Renewed Why: Paget Brewster might be checking out, but "Criminal Minds" is here to stay. In Season 7, the procedural is still a consistently strong ratings performer for CBS.
