Baby-Name Regret Is on the Rise, Expert Says

Expectant parents, back away from the baby-name books.

Okay, a peek or two probably won't hurt you. But if you're planning on trashing "15,000 Baby Names" (Meadowbrook Press, 1997) for the even-lengthier "The Baby Name Countdown: 140,000 Popular and Unusual Baby Names," (Da Capo Press, 2008), you may be setting yourself up for a fall.

Psychologists are finding that more choices often lead to more paralysis and regret, and baby names seem to be no exception.

"There isn't hard data, partially because I don't know of any accessible data on name changes," said baby-name expert Laura Wattenberg. "But as a percentage of my mail ? remorse from parents who have already chosen names is rising." [Most Hated & Most Popular Baby Names]

What's in a name?

In a two-part post on her blog, The Baby Name Wizard, Wattenberg explores this name-remorse phenomenon. Parents want the perfect name for the baby, she told LiveScience, and for good reason ? evidence suggests names can influence a child later in life. For example, boys given feminine names experience more disciplinary problems in school, probably related to teasing and insecurity. Studies have also shown that a name's racial background can send signals to hiring managers, with one well-known 2003 study from the National Bureau of Economic Research finding that resumes with "white" names were more likely to receive callbacks than identical resumes with "black" names.

At the same time, names reveal more about a child and a child's parents than ever before. According to Wattenberg, it took a list of six names to cover half of the population of children born in England in 1800 (U.S. Social Security Administration records don't begin until 1880). By 1950 in the United States, that number was up to 79. Today, it takes 546 names to cover half of the population of U.S. babies born.?

What that means, Wattenberg said, is that names send more tailored messages now than in the days when there were significant numbers of little Johns and Marys running around.?

"Names are becoming more important as they're becoming more diverse, because every choice sends a stronger signal," said Wattenberg, author of "The Baby Name Wizard: A Magical Method for Finding the Perfect Name for Your Baby" (Three Rivers Press, 2005). "When you're choosing names from around the world or you're inventing your own name, that comes with a more powerful message."

Name remorse

Almost invariably, name-hunting parents are looking for something appealing but unique, Wattenberg said. That's a tough standard, given that appealing names are generally popular by definition. As a result, baby name books have become thicker and thicker, with the record-holder currently swollen with 140,000 names. (The catch, Wattenberg said, is that these enormous name dictionaries usually count every possible spelling of a name separately, inflating their totals.) [The Name Game: Quiz Yourself on Popular Monikers]

The problem with this name explosion is that psychologists don't necessarily find that having more choices is better. To explain this phenomenon, Swarthmore College researcher Barry Schwartz coined the term "the paradox of choice." Schwartz's research suggests that the more choices we have, the more stressful those choices become. And even if we make a perfectly serviceable choice, we're more hampered by regret.

That's what Wattenberg says she sees in advice-seeking parents with name remorse. Some are frustrated because their unique baby name keeps getting mispronounced. Others learn of some distressing association with the name after they chose it and stamped it on Baby, she said. But most parents she hears from simply feel that another choice on their top 10 list would have fit their baby better.

"Maybe Jude would have fit better than Luke and totally changed your baby's life," said Wattenberg, summing up parents' thoughts.

Wattenberg said her advice for parents with name remorse goes in two directions. If Mom or Dad simply feels that their 6-week-old just doesn't seem like a Jude, it may be prudent to relax.

"Kids grow into their names in ways you can't predict," Wattenberg said.

On the other hand, "I think we're all a little too scared about changing an infant's name," she said. Very young babies get called by a variety of nicknames anyway, she pointed out, and they're unlikely to care or notice a name switch early on.

But the best bet may be heading off name remorse before birth.

'The chances that you need to look beyond the 25,000 best names is very slim," Wattenberg said, adding that after a certain point, baby name books are just throwing in "the dregs."

"We're always looking to make our lists bigger," Wattenberg said. "Just remind yourself to make your list smaller ? and if you have a bunch of good options, that's a wonderful situation to be in. That means that they will all be fine."

I posted another story, which i done one year in college whilst being bored doing bot all...
It would be nice if some people could give me feedback.
It's not much but it's something, i was going to keep going with it but i lacked ideas ^-^

Sunlight fades to night. As soon as the light fades a new life is born.
Unsure of what type of life... all I know it is something bloody, deadly and inhumane. Creatively disgusting, cleverly misplaced, jumbled into something unknown.
The only type of light is the light the clear stars give out when street lights are all off or broken, streets filled with blood, ripped up body parts. The smell of rotten flesh filling the dark air, the sound of growls and deep breathing... scratching and moving of something changing the street?s atmosphere.

Do not enter

a sign, reading it in my mind in front of an electrical fence. Hearing the electrical current flowing through, my eyes on the sign. Waiting. Unsure of what we?re wait seemed to for but I knew if I did it could give me less chance to get ripped apart limb from limb, a black hat with black large ears on the top. A hole in both sides releasing my small dark pair of wings, my hair bright blond flowing down from under my hair. Loosely tied into a pony tail, the end of the hair reaching to my ankles letting the soft breeze swift it side to side with the strands swaying to my sight, my height child like but not meant to be expected from a half breed night demon. My hands by my side with nails black pointed and long, sharp enough to cut through strong metals and buildings. My hands in general covered with fingerless laced gloves. My body hidden under a ivory coloured silk dress, on my legs black laced tights with muddy black, unlaced combat boots with faded white angel wings on both sides.

Why am I waiting for someone that will never get here on time? Thinking to myself my eyes rolling down my boots in view, moving my feet slightly hitting softly together. But a sound over powered my senses, jerking my head up quickly, eyes skimming the sky? seeing nothing, it didn?t stop me looking more

?Hey th...? Hearing a voice behind me I snarled loudly as I turned my fist clenched tightly I slammed the fist into the person, not sure where about but I could feel the slight pain they felt running through my knuckles. Hearing a grunt, my fist unclenched and back to my side ?bloody hell man Ivory!? the voice, a male? British accent. Looking at his hairless head I paused

?oh? sorry Daryl?? I whispered softly, my voice sarcastic when he lifted his head up, square shaped head with thick cheek bones, his eyes narrow and small, then his thick chunky lips. He wore nothing over his slim chest area, but black ripped jeans and a pair of black pointed formal shoes, a loud sign escaped his lips as he rolled my eyes standing up straight ?I take it I punched your lungs then??

?No, not at all!? he replied sarcastically rolling his eyes again, I just grinned slightly ?why can?t you be nice for once??

?I wasn?t created to be nice Daryl? I was created to work?. Assassinate, destroy creatures to make the human kind? happy.? I replied seriously then frowned ?you?re late by the way??

?My girlfriend started an argument?? I just smirked again letting out a snicker rolling my eyes at him ?what?? he asked me confused

?next time just walk out? and not be pathetic and argue back, either way you won?t win.? I simply replied my tone serious once again ?but now, we have work to do??

?Ladies first?? he whispered softly a frown on his lips, simply crouching then taking a leap to the other side, my landing soundless and soft. Hearing a slight sound next to me knowing Daryl landed

?now, lead the way?? I whispered softly standing still

?why?? hearing his voice ask not impressed

?so if a creature gets to me, you?ll get injured first.? I answered ?and plus your meant to be a gentleman?

?Fine! Fine?? hearing him mutter, taking his large steps in front I followed slowly taking my time. Constant growls and snarls around seeing Daryl stopping every so often I just rolled my eyes walking beside him

?why are you scared?? asking him, he turned to face me letting out a nervous laugh

?I?m not scared!? he replied loudly which made me growl softly, hearing heavy footsteps from every angle

?way to go Daryl, now we have to fight a group of them...?

?What are we fighting anyway?? He asked confused hearing him shaking

?Vampires...? I replied simply, which made him frown

?so killing my kind...?

?But ones that have lacked blood...? Hearing a screech in front of me both me and Daryl turned seeing a creature, bat wings, shredded skin with large pointed ears. Their eyes were wide... black but blood shot, noses... well... just holes on the face and their teeth all sharp and covered in blood, their feet just claws. Screeching above I looked up growling, they were above us as well

?Wow...? Hearing Daryl whisper ?so that?s what I would look like if I didn?t have a girlfriend??

?Yes...? I paused softly ?yes it is...? I snarled as I pulled something from under my dress that rested on my thigh, a small silver moon shaped boomerang. I smirked softly as I threw it quickly ?Daryl, get the ones above us, I?ll take these ones...?

?Right!? hearing him shout as he jumped, the boomerang slicing off their wings then coming back to me I grabbed it hearing them cry, their wings simply breaking once they touched the floor I shook my boomerang hard then spikes came out from the sides of it, throwing it again their heads off and breaking turning into ashes as well as their bodies. Grabbing my boomerang again I shook it, the spikes gone. Standing still after a couple of seconds I could feel something softly land on the top of my hat, placing my hand to feel I looked up seeing Daryl about to land so I took a side step for him to land.

?Thank you, for putting ashes on my hat...? I muttered softly brushing it off quickly as I started to walk on

?Welcome Ivory.? Hearing him chuckle power walking beside me

?only children would find something as simple as that amusing...? I paused ?oh wait... you?re a vampire, your mind is just simple in general?

?hey that kind of offensive...?

?Well I can?t help but be truthful...? I muttered softly hearing the growls getting louder I stopped in my spot, my hand on Daryl?s stomach stopping him from moving ?their sight might be good in the dark, but they use their hearing and scent more than their sight...? I barely whispered my eyes at the corner glancing at him quickly

?I can smell your blood pumping through you...? hearing Daryl mouth back which made me smirk ?I can smell the sweet vanilla of your living skin...? hearing him softly purr I frowned

?Fantasizing doesn?t get the work done Daryl? my whispered ?concentr-? I grunted feeling something heavy crashing into my back hard my head hitting the floor the world started to blur, feeling something sharp in my shoulders making me heavily grunt then hearing a squeal just above my ear then feeling... nothing. Getting lifted to my feet I quickly shook my head out of the blurriness frowning ?One?s attacked, the rest will be on their way...?

?But I do admit... your blood does smell amazing...? Rolling my eyes at Daryl?s comment

?that is because my blood is not fully human...? I grunted grabbing Daryl?s hands to get them off me as I stood forward. Stamping getting louder towards us knowing they were around, I turned to Daryl who looked confused

?Where are they?? Hearing him ask I just grunted softly

?Their using invisibility?? I mouthed taking a step back, my position changing, legs bents arms out wide, my hand up and flat waiting for an attack. I held my breath and closed my eyes tightly, then opened them again? My sight different, seeing a lot of different colours, seeing the coldness of the creatures surrounding Daryl and I ?Don?t move a muscle?

?Why?? hearing him whisper, seeing a creature run I quickly threw my boomerang watching the creature get slices then the boomerang back in my hands. The dust visible Daryl paused staring ?oh??

7/7 Survivor competes for Paralympic spot

LONDON (AP) ? Martine Wright was running late for work.

Staying out to celebrate London getting the 2012 Olympics had caused her to oversleep. In the subway, she didn't reach her usual car, which dropped her off nearest to her exit. Instead, she jumped onto a closer one just as the door closed.

Moments later, chaos.

A white light flashed and she felt herself being thrown. An off-duty policewoman found Wright in the wreckage and held her hand. Wright looked up. She saw a sneaker; it had been blown off her foot and skewered on a piece of metal.

The marketing manager lost both legs on the morning of July 7, 2005, in the subway bombings that killed 52 commuters and all four suicide bombers.

She was in a coma for 10 days. Her body was swollen to twice its normal size. Her brother and sister saw her in the hospital; they told the police it wasn't her.

Seven years later, Martine Wright is a full-time athlete.

Her goal: this summer's Paralympics.

____

Martine remembers her mother holding her face, telling her she could have died or been brain damaged.

But that didn't happen.

Wright, 39, learned to walk again with the help of prosthetic legs. She learned how to fly. She did a sky diving jump for charity. She got married to her longtime boyfriend, Nick Wiltshire. They had a son.

But somehow, moving on required something more. She needed a goal. Always athletic ? she had played field hockey at university ? she looked to sports.

"I wanted to feel that competitiveness I used to feel at work ? that sort of hunger for success," she said.

She tried wheelchair tennis, but the relatively new sport of sitting volleyball caught her eye because she didn't need a wheelchair to play.

Imagine regular volleyball, but with a lower net and the players with their butts on the floor. That's sitting volleyball.

Wright jokes that the courts gleam after games.

It was at gyms like one at West London's Roehampton University, where the team trains, that Wright found camaraderie.

Where else can an athlete walk in and toss her fake legs against a wall, like galoshes piled up after children come in from the snow?

On a recent day, teammates goofed around throwing balls at Martine's head while she chatted on the sidelines with a reporter.

They support one another even as they fight for their place on the squad.

"They're all fighters really," said team captain Andrea Green.

And teammates. And friends.

____

London's organizers make a point of giving attention to the Paralympics, which take place from Aug. 29 until Sept. 9. Queen Elizabeth II will open the Paralympics as well as the Olympics, a reflection of the nation's interest in offering equitable treatment to Paralympians.

But it isn't just about attention.

As the host nation, London was able to automatically qualify to send a team. But the British Paralympic Association had worries about the sitting volleyball team, which was relatively inexperienced. The association was determined that the team rise to the competition, to be able to take to the court with powerhouses like China and hold its own.

The association gave the team an ultimatum in the fall. They had to up their game, or they would not send a team to the Paralympics.

Penny Briscoe, the performance director for the British Paralympic Association, said the organization was determined to make sure they were ready, focused and gelling as a unit. Home team berth or no, the team was going to have to be good enough to compete against the best.

"It is about inspiring a nation of potential athletes who want to come and play," Briscoe said, explaining the tough line. "It is also to do with integrity. There are no free tracksuits for a Paralympics GB athlete."

The association ruled last week that the team will compete. But now there will be a decision on who should play.

That goes for Wright as well. Despite being one of the more high profile survivors of the July attacks and becoming an unflinching ambassador for the sport, Wright will not get a free pass. She must earn her place like any of the other players.

"If you said to me seven years ago, look Martine, you're going to be going to one of the biggest shows on earth ? London 2012 ... I would think you're absolutely mad," she said. "But I'm riding the wave. Who knows what the future can hold? But what I've got to do now is keep training and make sure I get selected."

If she does, she will wear number seven, the date that the bomb went off ? moments after she sat down, looked at the Olympics story in the newspaper and wondered how she might get tickets.

Wright doesn't feel angry. She feels lucky. So many died, and so many relatives lost loved ones. The fact that she's tied to the Olympics and the Paralympics by a weird twist of fate is not simply a matter of coincidence ? she says it is a reflection that things were meant to be this way.

And somehow, competing is already real. She can envision the opening ceremony. She wants her husband there, her parents and her son, Oscar, who she hopes will hold a sign reading "Mummy."

"There is good that comes out of bad," she said.

Porsche 918 hybrid supercar rolls out of our dreams, onto the tarmac

Image
Concepts, concepts, darned concepts. Teasing us with their curvy lines, and never-to-be-seen futuristic promise. Every once in a while, though, one pops out from the drawing board and into reality -- the Porsche 918 hybrid supercar being one such example. We'll admit we drooled a little when we saw the initial shots, and trembled slightly at the real world concept outed at the Geneva Motor Show 18 months ago. So, knowing it's finally made it out on the track filled us with more than a little glee. It seems development is coming along just fine, with three test versions out in the wild, and our friends over at Autoblog were lucky enough to get a ride in one of them. Sure, it was "only" at half power, so not the full roar of that 770 horsepower engine, but we're still pretty jelly. The $845,000 price tag might make you wince a little, but tears of joy will wash any pain away 3.1 seconds later, as you hit that magical 60mph. You've got until September 18th next year to save up the pennies, or ogle the gallery below.

Health, Nutrition and Easy Diet ? 9 Factors For Permanent Good ...

What is good health? Good health is a state of well being where optimum function in our body and good feeling is achieved. It is a place in our lives where we can achieve maximum productivity and functioning from our bodies and mind and where we feel most resistant to fatigue and disease.

To reach this state is not easy, I?m sorry to say. That?s why over 75% of Americans are not healthy in one way or another. It requires a lifelong program of health and wellness management brought on by the discipline of making the right choices of diet and exercise ? one day at a time. And it seems, according to my own experience that the older you get the more you need to curb the intake of foods.

However, with a good state of mind and understanding of the importance of a good disciplinary program it can be easier to achieve. How do we get to good health and stay there? Here are 9 important factors that will lead up to permanent good health:

1. Self-driven discipline.
2. A positive attitude.
3. Desire, effort and patience.
4. Good nutrition choices.
5. Exercise.
6. Changing poor habits into healthy ones.
7. Knowledge of our body
8. Education on the subject.
9. Continuous working on all the above

What is sickness and disease?

If good health is a state of well being where optimum function in our body and good feeling is achieved, then what is sickness? It is the opposite where the body does not function well, bringing about an ill-feeling of fatigue, disease, aches and pains. If you are sick, your body is not living in harmony with normal principles. Ailments and pains are not normal. Health is normal.

Sometimes disease symptoms can be remedial steps to the body?s restoration, such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, coughing, sneezing, etc.. Often sickness can be an intense bodily purification process. The body always strives to purify itself of harm.

To help the body rid itself of toxins, we need to eat properly, providing our body foods in natural state, raw or steamed. Meats & eggs should be well done and unprocessed, unrefined and without additives. With the help of a health professional, we can undertake a herbal program for cleansing.

To stay healthy, we need to get enough vigorous exercise, breath pure air, drink lots of pure water, balance our days in 1/3 sleep, 1/3 work, 1/3 leisure, and keep our body clean internally and externally.

To help prevent sickness, we must be aware of what our bodies tell us at all times (how we look and feel), watch for our bodies? signs and signals such as, symptoms, feelings, sensations. These are often overlooked until it is too late. For example one highly common and overlooked unhealthy sign is constipation. Simple. Common. Yet most of us don?t take immediate corrective action. It is an indication of poor food habits. Not enough water, not enough fibre, etc. That?s when the #6 factor above comes in: Changing poor habits into healthy ones.

Many ailments and serious diseases are caused by this chronic problem alone. But we keep on living with it, taking harmful laxatives, until a critical medical situation such as colitis or crohn?s disease, etc., sends us to the doctor or the hospital. This is one of the first signs of bad eating habits. All that?s required is an immediate change in diet. Foods do make the difference.

Diseases can also be the result of external causes involved in daily living such as, polluted air, non-nutritional foods, devitalized foods, bad eating habits, unhealthy foods and drinks, lack of exercise, uncontrolled emotions, toxics and poisons in the body.

Borderline health and vague feelings are when we may not feel sick but we could feel better, more energetic and enthusiastic. Again these are usually linked to nutrient deficiencies. Some of the possible symptoms are digestive disturbances, leg cramps, canker sores, eye discomforts in bright lights, scaly skin, chronic pains, headaches, etc.

Continuous knowledge and education in each of these issues and staying the course on the 9 factors listed above will go a long way to take us to permanent health and well-being./dmh

House GOP to unveil budget blueprint

(AP) ? Eager to draw a contrast with President Barack Obama on taxes and spending, Republicans controlling the House are releasing on Tuesday an election-year budget plan that would impose sharp cuts on many programs in hopes of taming trillion dollar-plus deficits, but would still fail to reach balance over the coming decade.

Republicans are expected to again propose politically sensitive curbs on Medicare ? though less dramatic than last year's plan ? and they're already rewriting last year's budget pact with Obama to cut domestic agency budgets.

The resulting political battle is sure to spill beyond the Capital Beltway into the presidential campaign and contests for control of the House and Senate this fall. As if to underscore that reality, House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., released a campaign-style video Monday evening telling viewers that "Americans have a choice to make" in a none-too-subtle appeal to voters.

"It's up to the people to demand from their government a better budget, a better plan, and a choice between two futures," Ryan said. "The question is: Which future will we choose?"

The House budget panel is slated to debate and vote on the measure Wednesday in hopes of a vote by the full House next week.

Just as Obama's budget was dead on arrival last month with Capitol Hill Republicans, the House GOP plan is a nonstarter with Democrats controlling the Senate.

On Monday, two powerful Senate committee chairmen sent top House GOP leaders a letter protesting a GOP plan to cut agency operating budgets funded annually by Congress below levels negotiated last summer. Instead of going with a $1.047 trillion cap on agency budgets, as called for under last summer's debt and budget pact, the House panel is looking at cutting domestic agencies by $19 billion more.

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., and Appropriations Committee Chairman Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, warned that breaking the agreement only guarantees delays later this year and "represents a breach of faith that will make it more difficult to negotiate future agreements."

Republicans also say the measure will include special instructions to House committees to scrub the programs under their jurisdiction for savings that could be used to forestall about $100 billion in across-the-board spending cuts set to take effect in January.

Those cuts, including $55 billion from defense accounts, are punishment for the failure of last year's supercommittee to come up with a new package of $1.2 trillion in deficit cuts over the next decade as part of the deal to let the government keep borrowing.

The GOP plan would bundle the new cuts from various committees and try to pass them as early as this spring. They might include various proposals discussed by the supercommittee, including curbs on federal employee pensions and new steps to prevent illegal immigrants from claiming the refundable child tax credit.

WDW Radio Kids & Teens Day: Make Your Greets More Interactive ...

by Makena W.

If you have been to Disney, you must have run into a character at least once or twice. Many people do the usual routine: hug the character, ask for an autograph and take a picture. But you are older now and realize how much magic these characters create in people?s lives. When I went to Disney World in August, I wanted to do something to put magic in the characters life to thank them for what they do every day. I did this by shocking them (not literally!) Here are ways to catch the characters off guard and give them a moment they (and yourself) will never forget.

Some of these ideas I have done before, some I thought of right now and some friends came up with. If I have done it, I will share my experience.? Just remember, like my parents always say, ?It?s not what you say, it?s how you say it?, so make sure you say it with a smile! :)

Tell Piglet that you smell bacon
My dad always does this to poor Piglet, and he covers his eyes in an embarrassed way and usually walks away! I always respond ?Dad! You hurt his feelings!? I get an extra hug from Piglet for that!

Tell Snow White to stop eating apples, they really don?t keep the doctor away
I have never done this before, but I am definitely doing it next time!

Call any villain an Overtaker
Most of you have probably already read the Kingdom Keepers series. If you haven?t, read it ASAP. In all 4 books (In 14 days, the number will be 5!), the ?bad guys? are called Overtakers. All villains are Overtakers. If you call, say- Cruella DeVille- an Overtaker and she doesn?t react, she obviously hasn?t read the books. If she does react, you know that you have a fellow Keeper in front of you.

Say to Woody , ?There?s a snake in your boot!!!?
This idea is sure to get an amazing reaction!

Give a character a gift
Some ideas could be to present Iago with cracker (or any Disney bird) or Pooh with Honey. But you can also give things a serious note. For example, I have given princesses letters before, explaining how I appreciate the magic they put in little girl?s lives. I even gave Aurora (my favorite princess) a thimble! (It was blue and pink because the fairies couldn?t decide what color to make it!) People are afraid of presenting characters with something because they think,? ??How could they hold it with their gloves?? or ?They have to hold it the rest of the day.? These are good questions, but you don?t need to worry about them. If you are meeting a ?glove-character? (Characters that need the extra big pen to sign autograph books), usually their handler will step in and take it. Sometimes I give my gift to the handler first, then tell the character that *insert name of handler here* has a gift for him/her. If it is a face character, they accept it and then give it to their handler. If you are at a character meal, usually there is one handler for all of the characters. He/she is easy to pick out because they are dressed differently from the servers and regular tourists. If you can?t find the handler at the restaurant you are dining at, ask your server about him/her.

Ask Chip and Dale if they are squirrels
They are sure to be ?angry? at you!

Ask Mary Poppins to spell or say ?Supercalafragilisticexpealidocious?
Next time, I am going to ask her to spell it forwards and backwards!

Say to Captain Hook ?tick tock tick tock!?
This will prove how much of a coward Captain Hook REALLY is!

Bark at Cruella
Another one that is sure to scare the wits out of a true villain!

Ask Buzz ?Have you fallen with style yet today?? or tell him ?Woody is Andy?s favorite!?
When I told Buzz that Woody is Andy?s favorite, he turned away from me and walked away sulking. Everybody in line awww?d and I had to practically beg him to take a photo with me.

Ask Donald where Mickey is
I?m sure Donald?s temper will start to show!

Tell a ?glove-character? that they blinked
These reactions are hilarious, and scatter from anger to embarrassment (depending on who the character is.)

Ask Mickey ?Why haven?t you proposed to Minnie yet??
I have done this once before, and made everybody laugh. I was in the Garden Grill when Mickey arrived at my table. I finally got up enough courage to ask ?Why haven?t you proposed to Minnie yet?? Since Mickey can?t talk, he made a ring motion with his hand and then a shushing motion with his finger. Later that same night, Mickey came by again to our table. I thought this response up myself ?I know why you didn?t propose to Minnie yet-you can?t find a ring big enough!?

Remind Captain Hook about how badly he treats Mr. Smee
Before the pirates and Pals cruise, you have the opportunity to meet Captain Hook and Mr. Smee together. This was my first time seeing them together, so I was thinking of something clever to say. When I was at the front of the line I gave Captain Hook my autograph book (yes, I still get autographs) and pen. After he finished his flourish, he handed the book and pen to Mr. Smee like it was a dirty rag. I responded to that action ?That wasn?t nice!? Captain Hook turned his back to me, and I turned my back to him. Mr. Smee gave me a thumbs up.

Ask Belle what her favorite book is

Wouldn?t it be funny if her favorite book is yours, too?

?

Have you done any of these things before? How did they turn out? Do you have any ideas of your own? Leave them in the comments below.

?

Congratulations to fellow blogger Jen Tremley who got my Where in the World picture correct! This one is a little bit harder.

Where in the World was this picture taken?? Those are my brother?s feet in the upper left corner of the picture.? Obviously they aren?t part of the scene!!

?

?

?

?

?

See ya REAL soon!

Kirk Cameron on Today: I Love All People!

Kirk Cameron appeared on The Today Show Tuesday and discussed the recent controversy surrounding his anti-gay views ... as well as his new movie.

The former Growing Pains star says he's surprised at the reaction to his interview on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight, while insisting he meant no harm.

Asked if he’s guilty of hate speech, Cameron reiterated his past defense of his comments, saying, “Absolutely not. I love all people. I hate no one.”

Cameron said that he, too, was being bullied by destructive speech in this case, and debate over social issues shouldn't be reduced to sound bites.

"I was surprised, frankly, that people were surprised by the things that I've said," he explained. "I have been consistent for 15 years as a Christian."

"I'm a Bible-believing Christian. What I would have thought was more newsworthy is if I had said something that contradicted my own faith."

"When you take a subject and reduce it to something like a four-second sound bite or a check mark on a ballot, I think that that's inappropriate."

"To edit it down to that, it certainly didn't reflect my full heart on the matter."

Curry asked Cameron if he felt his remarks could encourage some people to bully gays. "Nobody should mistreat anybody," he insisted.

"We all have our convictions formed by different things. Mine are informed by my faith. They're formed by the word of God, and I found that to be an anchor for me."

"When people start bullying one another and calling each other names for those different convictions, then I think you get into problems."

Cameron appeared on Today to promote his new movie, Monumental, a search for the soul of America in which he stars and co-produces.
